WENDELL CASTLE WORKSHOP
A woodworking and furniture design school located in the former studio of renowned artist Wendell Castle
WCW is a division of Wendell Castle Project, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to provide classes and resources to help people experience and expand the creative legacy of Wendell Castle.
THE ARTIST
Wendell Castle was a pioneer in the field of art furniture. By creating work at the nexus of art, design, and craft, he blurred boundaries and paved the way for countless furniture makers who came after him. His signature technique, stack laminated carving, allowed him to sculpt one of a kind pieces that were limited only by his imagination.
RESIDENCY PROGRAM
Through its residency program, WCW creates possibilities for artisans to explore new directions, experimentation, and artistic challenges. Believing that research, process, dialogue, and creative exploration are the key ingredients in the advancement of culture, WCW offers this unique opportunity to support artisans for up to three months of uninterrupted studio time.
