The Wendell Castle Workshop is located in Castle’s longtime studio in Scottsville, NY, about 10 miles south of Rochester. Castle designed and fabricated his work and at one time lived in this same building with his family. The central area of the Wendell Castle Workshop, now featuring 14 workbenches each with its own set of tools, is flanked by two fully-equipped machine rooms. In the former living quarters of the building is a gallery featuring works by Wendell and his wife, artist Nancy Jurs, that all students visit during their tour of the facility.
The facility is temperature and humidity controlled year-round. Each student is supplied with a bench, padded stool, and a set of tools. The instructor’s bench is outfitted with state-of-the-art digital cameras and a monitor to enable all students to see demonstrations clearly.
