The Wendell Castle Workshop is located in Wendell Castle’s longtime studio in Scottsville, NY, only 10 miles south of Rochester. Wendell designed and fabricated his work and at one time lived in this same building with his family. Co-located in this building is a gallery/showroom with major works by Wendell and his wife, Nancy Jurs, an acclaimed ceramic artist, that will be available to the students for viewing. In the future, the building will also be home to an event space and museum shop. (Yes, it’s a VERY BIG building.)
The school consists of a bench room and two adjacent, fully equipped machine rooms. The instructor’s bench is outfitted with state-of-the-art digital cameras and a monitor to enable all students to see demonstrations clearly. The facility is temperature and humidity controlled year-round. Each student is supplied with a bench and padded stool.
This is Wendell working
in the same room as above!
The studio is conveniently located 10 minutes from exit 46 of the NYS Thruway and 15 minutes from the Rochester Airport.
