Class description

In this five-day workshop, we will explore a range of methods for designing and creating a small modern coffee or side table. We will discuss design strategies for building furniture with solid wood, material selection, panel glue-ups for tabletops, cross-lap and loose-tenon joinery, and some fun techniques using templates with the bandsaw and router table. This table design incorporates a range of possibilities that can be modified to the students’ design interests or dimensions, and is great for both beginners and intermediate woodworkers looking to advance their foundational skills. We will integrate

machine tool safety, techniques for working creatively with curved components, and fitting and finishing components with hand-tools.

The image shown is representational of the work that students will complete, not the actual piece. Students will modify and design their own version and are encouraged to arrive with ideas that suit their interest.
